The Klinikum rechts der Isar university hospital of the Technical Uni­versity of Munich is a major European center of medical care and education and teaching with 1,161 beds and around 6,000 employees. Every year around 65,000 patients benefit from inpatient and around 265,000 patients from out­patient care. The hospital is a supra-maximal care home that covers the entire spectrum of modern medicine. Since 2003, the Klinikum rechts der Isar is an insti­tute of public law of the Free State of Bavaria.

The research group of Prof. Dr. Wollenberg at the Ear, Throat and Nose Clinic of the Technical University Munich (TUM) is inte­rested in the role of immune cells (e.g. platelets, T-cells, Monocytes) in cancer and inflamma­tory diseases. In particular, we want to inves­tigate how such diseases are influenced by the highly diverse action of platelets and if they can predict or alter response to therapy. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly motivated
PhD student (f/m/x)

• Work at the interface of translational medicine and basic research
• Results-oriented and independent approach to work

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) with a strong background in immunology, cell biology, molecular biomedicine or similar disciplines
• Practical lab expertise
• Experiences with multi-color flow cytometry, a wide range of techniques of molecular biology and cell culture experiments like spheroid or organoid models is of advantage
• High commitment and collaborative team spirit
• Willingness to learn new methods and adapt to latest scientific knowledge
• Excellent communication skills in German and English (written and spoken)

• Well-equipped state-of-the-art research environment within the Klinikum rechts der Isar

• Membership in TUM Graduate School (mandatory)
• Initial contract for three years with optional prolongation at standard public service salary (TV‑L; 65 %)
